This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me...

Hey girls! So today is, well, eh. It's alright. Intake was pretty good, but outtake was virtually nothing. I was sooooo tired I ended up going back to bed at 9 a.m. (got up at 6:30 this morning) and somehow slept until three "/

I'm not too upset about it, because this is the last summer I CAN sleep all day if I choose to (I start college AND work in the fall so I'll be busy all day), but that late is a little excessive. I've just been sooo tired this week. Maybe I'm low on something?

I need to remember to take my vitamins (haven't all week, and I always drag when I forget to take them, just not usually this much). And I wanted to ask you ladies, anyone know of any (natural) foods that are really good for energy?

Intake

Breakfast

Superfood Smoothie - 215 cals
1 piece of light string cheese - 60 cals

Lunch

Apple w/ 2 tbsp peanut butter- 340 cals
NUT-Trition Heart Healthy Mix -170 cals
Sugar free Lemon-Lime jello cup - 10 cals

Dinner

??? - <650 cals

Snack

94% Fat Free Popcorn - 120 cals

Total Intake: 1565 Calories

Exercise

Couch-2-5k - 86 cals burned

Total Burned: 86 Calories

Yeah, not sure what I'm having for dinner yet but it'll be 650 or less calories.

Exercise was just blah. I know I should have done more. However, I was so exhausted I was barely even able to do that, so I'm glad I at least did my C25K. I was starting to talk myself out of it; 'you're too tired, you'll do it tomorrow' etc., but I just said fuck it and went and did it.

Will do more exercise next week, for sure. But at least I worked out every day this week so far :)

By the way, the smoothie was, well, alright. It wasn't real tasty, but it wasn't bad either. However, it's got some of the best ingredients in it. Recipe time!

- 1/4-1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen) - has TONS of antioxidants!
- 1 banana - fiber, potassium, delicious!
- 1 cup kale - everything. period.

I also added a slice of pineapple for taste.

All together the nutrition facts are 215 calories, and the following daily totals:

-38% Fiber
-9% Iron
-12% Calcium
and 183% Vitamin C

So it's pretty damn good for you. However, it's only downfall is it only has about 4 grams of protein, so you can either have it with something high in protein (like string cheese) or just add a little protein powder. As it is though, it's still very nutritious, and completely vegan, not to mention it doesn't taste too shabby. Would definitely recommend it!

Yeah, apparently kale is a superfood. It has iron, calcium, a SHIT LOAD of vitamin C (134% per cup), a ton of fiber, vitamin K, antioxidants, and even a little protein. Oh yeah.

^^ not my mom lol
Also, my mom is doing so well! She's lost 15 pounds so far :) She isn't really actively dieting or anything, just watching her portions. And she's on her feet for 8-10 hours a day at work, so that's enough of a workout by itself. She wants to lose 15 more, so she's halfway there! Our UGW is about the same (mine's 158, hers is 150-160 [she just wants to wear her skinny pants again]), so we'll finally be able to share jeans again lol!

Yeah I weigh-in tomorrow. Nerrrrrrvous. As weird as this sounds, I don't feel any lighter this week. I normally do, but this week I don't. I haven't done too bad though, (stayed under 1800 calories and worked out every day) so we'll see.

That is all. Will comment everyone back tomorrow. Peace ladies :)

P.S. Have the strangest craving for banana peppers....
I love having healthy cravings. :)

maybe you''re craving the vinegar? unless its the actual pepper, not the ones in a jar that you get at Quiznos. that smoothie sounds great!

High energy foods: apples, whole grain bread, and foods high in vitamin C. (bell peppers, oranges, I believe strawberries are good for this...)
Sometimes excessive fatigue is a symptom of adrenal fatigue. (this may be accompanied by a feeling of being "stressed out" a lot, also) The highest concentration of vitamin C in the female body is in the adrenal glands, so make sure you're getting enough!
Taking some vitamin C supplements helps me, I've noticed, in addition to my regular vitamins. Just don't take *too* much in supplement form, excessive amounts can cause kidney stones.
--Another thought on tiredness - are you consuming adequate iodine? Thyroid function plays a significant role in energy levels (people with hypothyroidism tend to be low on energy). I use Iodized salt (sparingly) to get my iodine, or it can be obtained in kelp tablets if you don't want more salt.

Sorry, that comment got long. Hopefully it gives you some ideas!

Great natural energy sources are: green tea, coffee (it actually has antioxidants!), raw nuts and seeds, trail mix- basically nothing w/ a lot of sugar or processing. A lot of energy drinks actually set you up for a horrible crash. Yerba mate tea is a phenomenal energy source. B vitamins are a good source too. Make sure you're getting enough vitamin d- it's important for energy levels, mood, and supports a healthy weight 1000-2000 iu rec'd

Good job making yourself do the couch to 5k even when you didn't want to! I've been doing it too and it's pretty tough.

My favorite thing for energy is tea!! Green tea is actually kinda low in caffeine so you need a few cups of that, and black tea has more caffeine. Also foods like bananas, trail mix, and high protein snacks. Good luck weighing in! I think I messed up this week so I'm weighing in first thing Monday morning and I'm nervous too :(

I kind of want to try kale but it doesn't look very appetizing, lol. I see it in a lot of healthy eating stuff. Although, no type of vegetable will give you the best type of intake for iron and protein. Spinach has a lot of iron but the body doesn't absorb it that well, you have to eat a ton of it in order to get the intake that one would get just from meat. Just a fun fact, lol.

Good luck on your weigh in!!!

I mix oats, nutella, peanutbutter and some coconut (could use honey, dried cranberries, chocolate chips) in a bowl, roll a spoonful in a ball, toss them in the fridge and take them to class. THey are filling and give a nice boost :)
